NC State Veterinary Hospital Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Policies
NC State Veterinary Hospital Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Policies
Introduction
Preventing the transmission of infectious diseases within the NC State Veterinary Hospital is a collective responsibility of all hospital personnel and students. Our primary goal is to provide a safe environment for our patients, clients, hospital personnel and students. The majority of our patients are referred from other veterinary practices, and they often arrive at our hospital with severe health problems; many are immunocompromised. In addition, working with animals poses a risk of potential exposure to animal pathogens that can be associated with human disease (zoonoses). The policies posted on this web site were developed to minimize the likelihood of infectious disease transmission within our hospital and protect the health and well-being of our patients, clients, hospital personnel, and students.
Veterinary Hospital Website
The NC State Veterinary Hospital Infectious Disease Prevention and Control web site was developed to provide ready access to hospital standard operating practices for minimizing the transmission of infectious diseases. Access to these hospital polices is provided in several formats and via different navigational paths on this site. It is designed to assist hospital personnel and students with decisions that must be made to ensure their own safety as well as ensure the health and well-being of our patients, clients, and guests.
