Stall Cleaning Pattern
Stall Cleaning Pattern
Cleaning pattern: The following flow pattern shall be observed during the cleaning (and feeding) of large animal stalls to minimize the spread of infectious disease:
- Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (FOAL ICU) areas (stalls A7 and A9) unless under Restriction or Isolation.
- B7 and B1 going North to B12 and B6 (elective surgery & noninfectious medicine cases).
- Stalls C7 and C1 going North to C16 and C6
- Stalls D1 and D6 going North to D4 and D8
- Stalls A1 going North to A9 (this does not include FOAL ICU)
- Stalls C10 to C12 (Bone scan), only when they are cleared
- All Restriction stalls
- All stalls shall be cleaned and freshly bedded daily; this may involve either:
- Removal of fecal and urine soiled bedding (whether straw or shavings), addition of fresh bedding, and adjusting the bed.
- Complete removal of the entire bed (e.g., neonatal calves, patients with diarrhea).
- After an animal is discharged, the stall shall be emptied of all bedding and feed. The vacated stall shall be degreased, disinfected (including the drain), and allowed to dry.
- Hallways and ward floors shall be kept free of debris.
